Albums, computers and women.

Alright Peaches!!!!!

Thanks to Ben for the intro material.

Anyways - My album is complete, all but awaiting 2 remixes from other artists.  It will be called "Tales from the Dirtbox" and it will be available for free download from 1st September.  Which is good really, cos I'm off to DJ in Poland in October, and I can showcase it out there.

Turns out my computer's hard drive was fine.  It was a stick of the ultra expensive memory that went faulty.  However, in my diagnostics phase, I broke the housing for the processor, and it's held together by string.  The strange thing is that it has become a lot more stable since then, whilst doing the music stuff.

And women?  Dont even talk to me about them.

I'll be back with the tracklisting for the album very soon!

Peace out

Steve

Blue Screen of Death

On Saturday, my Hard Drive failed on me.  After approximately 8 hours of diagnosis and frustration, I then decided to spend the Bank Holiday weekend getting drunk.

Thank the Lord for small mercies.  I'll be back soon when the PC gets fixed!

Random

"Doing all I can do, just to be close to you, every time that we meet, I skip a heartbeat!!"

Wise words for the blindly sentimental amongst us.  However, surely you'd rather avoid that person, instead of 'doing all that you could do', to give yourself heart palpitations.  Thats just crazy.

Scouting for Girls?  Rubbish, more like.

Ronaldo, "...They were put there by a man", and Stupid People Part III

I suspect this to be a quick blog, as you will soon find out!

Tonight, Manchester United take on Barcelona in the champions league semi-finals.  I have supported Man U since 1983, and I am really excited.  It kicks off in approximately 33 minutes.  Come on you Red Devils!

Also, you know this website I keep banging on about?  The fruit-based Audio Extravaganza from my previous entries?  I'm sure you will find it if you look.  Well, yesterday I was enrolled into the Spanish food finger buffet restaurant secret masonic handshake area of their site.   Cunningly called 'TAPAS'.  I am a full member, so I get exclusive content, extended shows, video downloads, culinary tips and much much more.  I was ecstatic when I was nominated to become a part of this area, and I will not let any of my supporters down.....

Ok.  It cost me a tenner.  But from what I see, for life membership (I guess for as long as the peach is in existance, but just remember Ben & Joe, life means LIFE!) It's good value.  I even get a 'Build your own Desktop Peach'.  I was gonna get a T-Shirt, but I thought I'd win one by writing a review on iTunes.  Which I shall do later.  Listen, or dont.  I dont care.  I just enjoy what they do.

Lastly, in my Trilogy of stupid people, of which I expect many more entries on the subject, I wish to nominate a total retard who's name does not matter, or is known.  Needless to say, he was in a position of authority at work, and felt it prudent to address me by the common pleasantry of "Hello Idiot".  I had never met, seen or smelt this shining example of exemplarary management techniques before, therefore I ended up getting him into trouble when I actually 'Out-Managed' him by questioning his professionalism, and demeanour, and quoting various discrimination and victimisation policies and sub-rules at him.

Turns out he was having a bad day, and wanted to shout at someone, and flex his management muscles, and after a conversation with another manager, he approached me and offered a full apology for his outburst.

Of which I did the decent thing, and refused to accept it.  Because he was a nob.

So, off to watch the match.

Alcohol, Football and Stupid People (Part II)

Stella Artois.  Reassuringly expensive.

I love the stuff.  I cant get enough.

I visited some old friends yesterday for a birthday celebration and we went to Peterborough Greyhound Races.  Apart from me ending the night twenty quid up, it was great to see such good people.  On arrival at their house, there was a fridge full of Stella Artois.  I thought it was my birthday!  And as they rarely drink it was all miiiiiine!!!

So, after a night that involved gambling, drinking, MarioKart wii, and more drinking, I finally fell asleep at about 4:30am this morning.  Happy and content to be in good company, with good beer, and good entertainment.  So to those that know....  Thank you.

I returned back home this morning to find myself the new Manager of a local football team as from next season.  Ferrari FC.  I have today revised the club rules and codes of conduct and am now on the hunt for the best football talent that Shepshed have to offer.  Okay, so we play in Division 4, of some <insert local business name here> sponsored league, but its all good.  I'm really looking forward to it!

I was pleased to read that my brothers date went quite well.  So I can rest easier now.  Well done, big brother!  It's all downhill from now.

Stupid people still annoy me.  Have you checked out The Peach yet?  Well, I signed onto their forums about a month ago, and all was good.  That was until I posted a link to my previous blog describing what the Peach was and trying to encourage my readers to check them out.  Then this stupid person called 'Casual Malice' called me a 'TROLL' for posting a link on the forums.  Who does he think he is?

I was mildly annoyed at his childishness and juvenility(?), however that paled into insignificance as quickly as it came as I remembered that I was actually cleverer than him/her/it.  I posted a veiled response, insinuating that Casual Alice (sic) was in fact nothing more than a cretin.  The 'I call people names from behind a computer screen' retard will not understand the basic principle of sarcasm, thus my genius is complete.  On a serious note, does he not realise that the ever-growing fan base is probably being put off of posting on these two guys forums because of this control-freak?  It doesn't bode well for the Peach, which is a shame, because its actually a really entertaining listen.

Did I just call someone a name from behind a computer screen?  Oh.  That'd be 'Irony'.

Until next time

Window Lickin Good

Stupid people annoy me.

Mainly the type of person that just cannot hold a general conversation about even the basic things, and they end up quipping some witty comment that just is not funny.

We all know about them, we all know who they are.  But the question is, "How do we deal with it?".

Generally, I smile nervously, whilst thinking "God, you're stupid".  Because its rude to tell someone that they are boring, isn't it?

Ahh well.....  Fuck 'em.

Things that please me

Hello,

This is a shorter entry than yesterday as the more I read that entry, and talk to various people in the scene, the more I get a liitle more disheartened with the whole political, behind the scenes nonsense that is going on.

So I thought I'd write about things that please me.

I'm pleased but strangely apprehensive that my brother has a date on Sunday.
I'm pleased that I have a wonderful son.
I'm pleased I have good honest friends that wont stab me in the back.
I'm pleased that I have discovered free entertainment in the form of The Absolute Peach.
I'm pleased that my music is generally well received.
I'm pleased that I can make dirty bass sounds.
I'm pleased that I can say what I like.

I just want to touch on the fourth entry in my list.  The Absolute Peach.  Generally, this is two mates from the south coast having a chat about pretty much anything.  It's very well produced, and well into its third series now.  your hosts are Ben and Joe, and they cover everything from UFC to KFC, Scroungers to Chavs, and Christmas Parties to Mistaken Sexual Identities.
I recommend this highly.  It reminds me of a more laid back, less random, Reeves and Mortimer, with plenty of tangents explored and generally mutated into wierdness.  Sign up, sit back and enjoy the Peach.  Trust me on this one - you wont regret it.  If you do, you obviously have no sense of humour, or are a retard.  As Pete Tong might say.... "Essential!"

Anyway, fingers crossed for my brother, and I hope it all goes well.

Until next time.

Nu-Clown-Hardcore-Breaks-Ravestep 'n' Bass

Hello.

I suppose I should really find something witty and humourous to put in here.  But I struggle with these sorts of things.

I'll start by saying that I am someone that writes music and love the music I write.  It's something called a lot of different things.  And thats what I want to address in my first blog.

Hardcore Breaks
Rave Breaks
J-Tek
New Old Skool
Breakbeat Hardcore
Nu-Rave

Apparently, these genres are all connected to one style of music.  Which confuses me.

I have two favourite websites to do with the music I write.  Unfortunately these websites are at some sort of war to do with the name of the Genre.  Its not really for me to say why, or how, but as someone that is involved in both sites, I sometimes get frustrated.

As this is my web diary, so to speak, I dont particularly care if anyone reads this.  It's more to do with me getting my thoughts out of my head, so I can remain focused and relaxed about the stupid things that go on in this world.  But why is there always an element of 'One-upmanship' in everything we do?

Why does one man's music have to be better than anothers?  Why do people pigeon-hole their style instead of feeling the tunes and creating new, exciting and original music?  Why do people say things like 'its all about the music' then alienate other artists and labels by not treating them fairly?  Why criticise the artist for doing exactly what the criticiser is doing?
Surely a diverse scene is a thriving scene?

I dont like a lot of the music in the scene at the moment.  I think it's boring as hell.  However, the few gems that surface from time to time are really really good and make the scene worth being a part of.  Although I am actively trying not to let it govern what I do.

My opinion is that Old Skool had its day.   It's not Old Skool, its New-Old Skool, or Hardcore Breaks, or something equally as pigeon-holing.  The problem is that I just dont find it interesting anymore.  Although I'm sure that many of you will and do.  I know I am in the minority, but I strive for new things.  Something that is old, is, by default, not new.  The same with what people call 'Rave Breaks'.  It just doesnt do it for me.  Re-hashed old-skool tunes with a watered down beat just isn't my thing.

However, thats not to say that I dont understand the appeal to people.  Where there's a market, theres music.  So although I find the music (with the exception of a few tracks) a bit boring, I admire anyone for having the balls to put their music out to the general public.  To try and push the music forward needs muscle, and muscle comes from having strength in what you do publically, privately and how you interact with similar groups of people striving for the same goal.

The music does the talking, but the image we create around the music can damage the outstanding work that people put in.  I hope things get better.

With that in mind, I have decided to do an album and start a monthly podcast for summer release.  This album will be a free download, and it will cover a whole range of rave music styles.  Basically, I wanted to be totally self-indulgent, for no profit and purely release an album of tunes that I have been involved in, and like quite a lot.  The podcast will be similar to my old Sunday Night RAW internet broadcasts a few years back.  It's 5 years since I met some really good friends, and it's going to be a 'tipping of the hat' to the good old days, when I was thinner, more attractive and more opinionated!

This wont make a lot of sense to a lot of people.  Thats ok - if you want to know, just ask.

So, here's to my new Blog, and continued growth of the music scene I have loved being a part of for the last 19 years.

Long live the music!
